Angel - at Christmas on the 24th of December in 2004 we were gifted with Andělka. She was so good and a nice bitch. It was love for the first sight. My intention was to kennel her as a stallion bitch and I whished she would have had puppies with Dan. For this reason I had started to train her to pass tests – OVVR in Albeř.
We attended two shows.
On 7th May 2005 in Třeboň - a special show in the management of KCHLS – junior category – promising – a referee Mrs. Poláková (CZ)
And that is it. Unfortunately we could not do more, because Andělka was on 8th June 2005 poisoned by eating an acute toxin carbofuran.
I went for a walk with my son Honza, Dan and Andělka in the early evening. We went to the meadow which is not far away from our house - approximately 200 meters. As a part of that meadow there are two small ponds. Both dogs were unleashed so they could run. Andělka ran close to one pond and after having found a hen egg she ate it. Than we went home and Andělka suddenly started to run strangely from me to son rotating and looking at me with her beautiful eyes like begging for help. Within 15 minutes we were at the vet’s office in Přeštice. The doctor was fighting for her life but he was not successful. Andělka died because of eating poisoned hen egg that was filled with an acute toxin carbofuran. Andělka was transported to Pilsen in order to conduct an autopsy and all had to be announced to the Police of CR.
Next day I decided to do a check around the area where Andělka ate the egg – other ponds in the village. And two more hen eggs were found with perforated shells. These eggs were placed next to the iron yard for wild ducks. I called immediately the line 158 and so TV Nova.
The policeman came but without any box for the eggs – so my brother provided him with a proper box. It is a pity, but if were not for TV Nova, he would not have done any investigation in the area (taking pictures etc.). I was asked if the dogs were kept on their leash…after my answer “no” I was recommended to keep them on their leash next time to prevent such accidents. So, my dear friends, the suggestion is: if you go for a walk with your children – keep them bound to your legs.
After some time I was received the statement from the Police of CR with the information that the case had been put aside. The investigation is in process!
The result of the pathological expertise from “Analytické laboratoře s.r.o., said that acute circulatory failure was caused by poisoning of carbofuran (Furadan).
Conclusion
I wish to all dog lovers, all the best and no such experiences, such as this occur for them. Nothing is worse than the feeling of helplessness which is really hard to defeat.
